CLT 205-206 - Fo undations:Literary Foundations of the West I?& I

Institution:
Assumption University
Subject:
Description:
This course considers some of the great themes of the West as they are played out in literature. The Fall semester’s work concentrates on questions raised by the texts about the role of heroes and their relationship with their communities, about honor, authority, obedience, rebellion, and the place of the gods or God in the lives of human beings. The Spring’s work continues the investigation of the above questions, particularly in the light of the modern insistence on the pre-eminence of the individual person rather than on the community.
