A survey of the development of Western art from the Late- Gothic period to the 21st century. A broad historical and stylistic approach frames the course, but the students will learn a select number of works in closer detail. This course acquaints the students through lectures, discussions, and visits to local collections, with the tool of visual analysis, the ability to decode visual images from the past and present, an essential skill for our digital age and one that will aid students in comprehending and navigating their environment.
