3 Credits Offered Fall An examination of essays, poems, stories, and novels of selected authors from the Puritan period to the middle of the nineteenth century. (Nearly all of the noted writers of the period lived in Massachusetts.) The course includes such authors as Bradford, Franklin, Bryant, Hawthorne, Melville, Emerson, Thoreau, Douglass, Whitman, and Dickinson. Skills prerequisite: ENG 020 and ENG 060.
