Cross-cultural study of pre-Columbian civilizations in the Americas. Considers the archaeological remains of cultures such as the Olmec, Aztec, Maya, Moche, Inca, Mississippian and Anasazi Pueblo groups. Recent archaeological evidence and iconographic translations are discussed and analyzed in the context of prevalent theoretical perspectives on cultural complexity.
