Conducted in Spanish. For students without previous knowledge of Spanish. Aural-oral practice, fundamental speech patterns, reading and writing to achieve a fi rm basis for an active command of Spanish. Lab. No credit toward a major. (No credit for students who have had two or more years of Spanish in secondary school; however, any such students whose studies of Spanish have been interrupted for a signifi cant period of time should consult the chair about possibly receiving credit.) 401-402 taken together satisfi es the foreign language requirement.
