Examines the sub-fi eld of community psychology, which grew out of clinical psychology but is diff erent from it. Th eoretical and research perspectives on prevention, diversity, empowerment, resilience, community intervention and ecological understandings of behavior. Causes of and interventions in social issues such as interpersonal and community violence and homelessness. Prereq: PSYC 401; 402; 502; 552, 553, or 561;/or permission. Writing intensive. 4 cr.
