Introductory course addressing theory and use of genetics in the biological sciences. Topics include 1) gene organization and transmission through generations, including Mendelian inheritance, linkage and mapping; 2) gene function at the molecular level, including physical nature of DNA, transcription, translation and regulation of gene expression; and 3) genetic analysis of biological processes such as development.
