Description:
Students produce sophisticated analyses and evaluations of texts and write essays that expand and refine their thinking about important ideas and issues. They analyze and evaluate ideas and information from a variety of sources, including electronic databases and networks, providing appropriate documentation. Students extend their writing maturity by learning to choose an appropriate rhetorical stance for different ideas, purposes, and audiences, and to assert an original thesis as a product of synthesizing ideas from multiple perspectives. Prerequisite- Corequisite Prerequisite: ENG 110 College Writing I or Placement Test. Students who earn a score of 90 or higher on the NYS ELA may enroll directly into ENG 111 without taking the Placement Test.
