3 HOURS, 3 CREDITS Introduction to statistics as applied to the social sciences. Emphasis on the basic assumptions underlying statistical concepts and the role of statistics in the analysis and interpretation of data. Problems in frequency distribution, measures of location and variation, probability and sampling, tests of hypotheses and signifi cance, linear regression and correlation, time series and index numbers. (Registration is through the Department of Psychology.) Prerequisites: ENG 101, and MAT 108 or MAT 141
