3 HOURS, 3 CREDITS An examination of psychological approaches to parenting, organized by age periods covering the span of life from conception through the high school years. Topics studied include how caregivers help the child to develop major personality dimensions; adjusting to the demands of parenting; establishing healthy patterns; discipline; encouraging selfsuffi ciency; instilling moral values; play and education; single parenting; the eff ects of separation, divorce, death, and child abuse; and the management of aggression in children.
