3 HOURS, 3 CREDITS A review is made of building construction and building systems. Craft ing principles and plan reviews will be introduced. Th is introduction will expose the student to actual problems, as they exist in the fi eld. Fire ratings of building components will be studied and integrated with applicable building codes. Relationships between fi re protection and life safety will be reviewed. Smoke and fl ame travel will be studied to determine eff ective means of control. Modern high rise structures will be reviewed to determine the unique problems they present to life safety and fi re fi ghting. Prerequisites: ENG 101, and FIS 101 or permission of the section instructor.
