Alternate Fall Semesters This course provides an opportunity for in-depth analysis of psychoanalytic theory. Students read the writings of Sigmund Freud and other early analysts. Attention is paid to psychosexual stages of development, theories of repression and regression and treatment protocols. Neo-Freudians are also discussed. Students will examine applications of psychodynamic theories in advertising, fairy tales, trauma and parenting. Criticisms of dynamic therapy will also be included. Prerequisite: Any 2000-level PSY course.
