Offered on Demand Traces the history and development of the detective story from its beginnings in Poe through a study of such writers as Conan Doyle, G.K. Chesterton, Agatha Christie, Dashiell Hammett, and others. Conditions of setting, foreshadows, elements of plot and character, and rules of dramatic action, are definitions applied to the works under study. This course meets the CLAC I Literature requirement.
