Offered Periodically Examines the tradition of women in Irish culture and literature with consideration of roles, voice, history, and arts. From antiquity to the present, Ireland has produced a formidable body of literature, art, and related cultural artifacts created, inspired, and performed by women. We will examine the essential presence of the feminine in a range of readings, works, and performances, including prose, drama, poetry, folklore, politics, and current cultural gender studies. Prerequisite: Six (6) credits of English at the 1000-level.
