Alternating Spring Semesters Spring 2008, 2010 This course introduces students to critical analysis of the role of mass media in modern industrial society. Students will be sensitized to the ways in which media images contribute to our everyday knowledge regarding the nature of the social world and the differing positions of men, women, and children in that world. Of special importance will be the development of visual literacy skills which will facilitate an aware and informed reading of symbolic representations of reality.
