Alternate Fall Semesters Fall 2007, 2010 Examines the nature and effects of male and female imagery found within mass media and investigates the professional position of women in various media organizations. The discussion of media sex-role stereotypes will center around an analysis of the different types of media output, including mass distributed films, television shows, advertisements, and pornography. The media as image maker will be set against a background of media as employer which will focus on the sexual division of labor currently found within the various areas of the communication industry. Prerequisite: COM 1010.
