This course is an introduction to the culture(s) of deaf people. It will investigate the manner in which research on American Sign Language has influenced the study of the culture( s) of deaf people. The course will examine the relationship between the language of deaf people and their culture. This course will discuss the values, norms, identities, traditions and subcultures within the larger culture. This course will uncover the similarities and differences between American Hearing and American Deaf Cultures. This lecture/class discussion course will be held in American Sign Language.
