Introducing computer-based crime analysis, this course examines crime analysis techniques appropriate for tactical, strategic, and administrative applications. Students utilize spreadsheet and database programs to analyze crime data for patterns and series. GIS (Geographical Information System) is used for mapping crime. The use of the Internet as a crime-fighting tool is examined. Specialized visualization software applications, developed and used by police agencies around the world, are available for student use.
