This course introduces the student to the software development process and programming. Topics include the structure and design of algorithms, data types, function modularity, documentation and an introduction to object oriented programming. Students will develop programs using the department's computer facilities and a modern structured procedural and object oriented programming language (C++). This is the fi rst course in a two semester sequence designed for computer science majors. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows required. Open lab time required. Fall semester day and evening sections. Spring semester day sections only. Code 2 course fee. Prerequisite: CSIT 140
