The measurement of the U.S. economy and the factors that contribute to economic growth and recession are the focus of macroeconomics. The role of government in the economy is closely examined. Particular attention is paid to tax and spending policy as well as the policy of the Federal Reserve. Government policy has a significant impact on the performance of the private economy.
