Description:
A survey of English literature from Beowulf to the major writers of the 18th Century. Although careful attention is given to the historical, social, and intellectual developments that gave rise to the literature, the emphasis of the course is on individual selections themselves as outstanding expressions of the English literary heritage. The course employs critical reading, thinking, and writing skills in the analysis of a wide variety of selected readings. Prerequisites: ENGL 1301 and 1302, or equivalent, with an earned course grade of ā€œCā€ or above.
