A survey of English literature from the early Romantic writers to the Twentieth Century. Although careful attention is given to the historical, social, and intellectual developments that gave rise to the literature, the emphasis of the course is on the individual selections themselves as outstanding expressions of the English literary heritage. The course employs critical reading, thinking, and writing skills in the analysis of a wide variety of selected readings. Prerequisites: ENGL 1301 and 1302, or equivalent, with an earned course grade of āCā or above.
