3 class hrs. - 3 credits FALL, spring The Iroquois (Haudenosaunee) are the oldest and longest functioning spiritual-political system in what is now New York State. This course will cover the culture, history and prehistory of the Iroquois as well as their contributions to today’s American society. Time will be spent on the Mohawks, who occupied the Mohawk Valley and the surrounding areas. This course should give students a better understanding as to who the Iroquois are and what Indian country is like today.
