Prerequisite: MATH 104 or equivalent. Topics range from data collection, descriptive statistics and linear regression models to inferential statistics. Includes probability, counting principles, and binomial probability distribution. The normal probability distribution and student’s t-distribution are discussed in single and two-populations applications. Statistical inference (confidence intervals and hypothesis testing) in sociology, psychology, and business/industry are stressed. Time permitting, additional topics may include Chi-square goodness of fit test, tests for independence, and testing the significance of the linear regression model. Three class hours weekly.
