Description:
Presents the organization of the human body to illustrate the interrelationships between form and function at the gross and microscopic levels of organization. The clinical significance of histology will be emphasized in both lecture and laboratory. Since anatomical structures are adapted to perform specific physiological functions, a precise understanding of structure and function is best achieved through an integrated study. BIOU 203 deals with cell physiology, membrane dynamics, followed by tissue, integumentary, skeletel, muscular and nervous systems, including sensory organs and sensory receptors. Clinical considerations and unifying themes such as homeostasis will be emphasized throughout. Three hours lecture, three hours lab. Prerequisite: BIOU 101M and BIOU 102M or equivalent.
