3 credits This course introduces students to basic skills of extemporaneous speaking through directed practice. Emphasis is placed upon selection and organization of material, diction, and methods of delivery. Students deliver, evaluate, and participate in several basic types of talks: speeches to inform, to persuade, and to demonstrate; panel discussions; symposia, and others. Prerequisite: ENG101. Fall and spring.
