This course examines the archaeological sequence (or a segment thereof) in the Americas prior to European contact. The aim is to explore contemporary thinking regarding the subsistence practices, settlement patterns, economy, sociopolitical organization, and ideology of ancient Americans. The geographic focus may vary from the culture area to a broader continental survey depending on the interests of the students and the instructor. Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisite: ANTH 1100 or 2100. Credits: 3 hours
