This course provides an overview of fundamental chemical principles so that the impact of chemistry on topics of importance to society may be discussed. These topics may include such areas as chemistry of the environment (air and water), radioactivity, energy sources, pharmaceuticals, household products, plastics, and food chemistry. Credit does not apply for a major or minor in chemistry. Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisite: MATH 1100. Corequisite: CHEM 1910 (unless successfully completed in a prior term). (To count for general education credit, both CHEM 1900 and 1910 must be passed.) Credits: 3 hours
