A historical and formal study of poetry, emphasizing the development of poetic techniques, major verse forms and styles, and their relation to theories of poetry. Attention shall be paid to the critical and theoretical bases of interpretation. This course is approved as a writing-intensive course which may fulfill the baccalaureate-level writing requirement of the student's curriculum. Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: Two courses at the 3000-level that count toward English major. Credits: 4 hours
