A study and directed application of the fundamentals of jazz improvisation including basic chord and scale construction and recognition, harmonic function, chord-scale relationships and basic blues and popular song forms. All students will be required to develop aural and performance skills relative to those theory skills. Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: MUS 1580 (or instructor consent) and 1610, "C" or better is needed in each class. Notes: Open to Upperclass and Graduate Students Credits: 2 hours
