Jazz Arranging is a study of the art of arranging for the jazz ensemble-both traditional and contemporary. The course will undertake a detailed study of instrument ranges, transpositions and sound potential, and will cover voicings, scoring practices, calligraphy and contemporary trends within the medium. Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: MUS 1580 (or instructor consent) and MUS 1610, "C" or better required in each course. Notes: Open to Upperclass and Graduate Students Credits: 2 hours
