A lecture and laboratory study of wood fibers and their properties. Fundamentals of fiber and sheet strength properties are critically discussed, including the effect of paper-making operations. Both fracture and optical properties of paper are considered. Basics of paper testing and reclaimed fibers are also studied. The laboratory consists of fiber identification and a papermachine trial. Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: PAPR 2040, IME 2610 or STAT 3640. Credits: 4 hours Lab Hours: (3 to 3)
