This course introduces students to the history, institutions, and policies of the European Union (EU). It surveys European integration since 1945 and examines the structure and functioning of the major institutions of the EU. Selected EU policies, such as economic, monetary, and foreign policy, will be analyzed in case studies. The class concludes with a discussion of possible futures of the European Union and the importance of European political integration for global politics. Credits: 3 hours
