A study of the United Nations in action. Attention is focused on significant political problems confronting world organization, i.e. functional and dysfunctional aspects of the UN Charter; nationalism vs. internationalism within the UN; conflict resolution and UN peace-keeping efforts; specific UN accomplishments in maintaining a dynamic international equilibrium; UN weakness and the future of world organization. Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: Junior status and taking PSCI 2000, PSCI 2400 or PSCI 2500, and two additional courses in Political Science. Notes: Undergraduates may enroll in 5000-level courses only after attaining junior status and taking PSCI 2000, PSCI 2400 or PSCI 2500, and two additional courses in Political Science.
