Topic varies according to genre, author, or period and will be announced. Each of these courses carries separate credit, although all are listed under 560. Thus, a student may take any or all of the offerings at various times. Representative topics which may be treated in this area include: Modern Spanish Women Writers, Modern Spanish Theater, Modern Spanish-American Theater, Fable and Fantasy in Early Spain, Spanish-American Literature and Film, Humor in Spanish Theater, Sex, Lies, and Manuscripts in the Spanish Middle Ages, The Spanish-American Short Story, Spanish Short Story and Poetry, Literature of the Spanish Civil War Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisite: SPAN 3160, 3170, and 3250. Notes: 5000-level courses may be taken only by advanced undergraduate students. Advanced undergraduate students are defined as those who have satisfactorily completed a minimum of four courses, or equivalent, applicable toward a major or minor in any one language. Each course, however, may have more specific and/or additional prerequisites. Credits: 3 hours
