STAT 4810 - Communicating Statistical Results

The emphasis of the class will be the reporting of statistical analysis so that all relevant information is conveyed, avoiding the use of jargon and enhancing the text with the use of informative tables or graphics. Examples of statistical reports will be examined and discussed. Students will be assigned projects involving data gathering and analysis. Written and oral reports on the methodology used and the results of the analysis will be required of each student. Student reports will then be discussed and critiqued by the class for content and clarity of writing as well as appropriateness of the methodology used. This course is approved as a writing intensive course which may fulfill the baccalaureate-level writing requirement of the student's curriculum. Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: STAT 3620, 3640, 4640, and approval of instructor. Credits: 3 hours
