Prerequisite: Completion of the lower division writing requirement. Philosophical examination of the concepts, values, and arguments relevant to understanding and evaluating practical social and political issues central to current public debates concerning such matters as civil and political rights, social and economic inequality, the environment, biotechnology, economic policy and global trade, and the national defense.
