This course examines microorganisms with an emphasis on the bacterial groups. Morphology, principal activities and properties of bacteria, yeasts, molds, viruses, selected algae, and protozoan will be discussed. The role of microorganisms in natural systems, infection, immunity, foods, and industry will be covered. Laboratory techniques in handling, culturing, and identifying microorganisms will be emphasized. Prerequisite: BIO 123 or BIO 161 (C or better) Course fee IAI: CLS 902, NUR 905
