This course focuses on personal health needs of the individual, including health, safety, and nutrition issues with emphasis on meeting the needs of the children in group settings. Topics addressed will include the roles and responsibilities of adults as they relate to the management of children’s health and the promotion of positive lifelong practices, the importance of a healthy lifestyle to the individual’s development and learning, common childhood injuries and illnesses, the vital importance of planning healthy and safe environments for children, and the basic elements of planning nutritionally adequate and appropriate meals. This course is intended for students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education A.A.S., A.A., and certificate programs. Prerequisite: Language Proficiency
