Students have the opportunity to pursue an area of interest under the mentorship of nursing faculty. The student’s area of interest must be related to nursing and /or health care. The student is responsible for establishing goals, planning, designing, implementing and evaluating this project. The student documents this plan and a timeline for activities into a written contract which along with a resource list must be reviewed and approved by nursing faculty. Examples of project areas the student explores include, but are not limited to, health policy, local, state or national politics, health promotion, community health, Healthy People 2010, nursing advocacy, interning in a clinical specialty, conducting a pilot study or writing an article for publication. Prerequisite: All undergraduate nursing courses. 3crs.
