Students are introduced to the art of composing music for film and television. Topics include: a survey of music in film, the dramatic and psychological impact of music, stylistic considerations, timing and synchronization, acoustic and synthesized instruments, technology and production, the business aspects and licensing music for other visual media. Students score film scenes using MIDI workstations. Prerequisites: MTEC 210, MTEC 325 and MUSI 201. $250 lab fee. 3 sem. hrs. 3 crs.
