An exploration of the ideas and forces that shape the process of management in the world’s communities. Particular emphasis will be placed on the managerial decision making process and its linkage to subsequent behaviors in the organization and/or the larger society. Leadership will be introduced as a necessary subset of effective organizational role. The major dynamic of this course will be dedicated to ensuring a student outcome where leadership and management are not seen as separable nor practiced independently. Topics will include: globalization, intercultural management, dealing with diversity, project management, separating the important from the trivial and the effective resolution of conflict. 3 sem. hrs. 3 crs.
