Course explores the role of faith in the antebellum movement of slaves toward freedom along what came to be known as the Underground Railroad. The spiritual journey of numerous slaves, slaveholders, and so-called friends of the fugitive (both white and black agents of the Underground Railroad) will be traced in order to illustrate the role that God played in this quest for justice.
