This course traces the path of Western music history from the early Baroque period through the end of the Classical Period including the music of Ludwig van Beethoven. Included in the course are the primary biographical facts about composers, a review of selected works, the development of contrasting style, the role played by social/historical forces that influenced these styles, study of selected scores and aural examination of the works studied. Prerequisite: Majors or Minors only. Fine arts elective.
