Develops skills in reading comprehension and in writing standard effective English through the study of language, grammar, sentence structure, and the paragraph and essay form. Activities include the analytical reading of paragraphs and short essays, the writing of paragraphs and essays, and practice with usage, diction, semantics, basic mechanics and sentencing. This course does not meet the General Education requirements for the A.A. and A.S. degree. Prerequisite: Satisfactory score in English placement test or grade of C or better in ENG 098.
