This course will present an overview of current theoretical and philosophical perspectives relating to mental, physical and developmental disabilities. Course content and activities will enable students to recognize ways in which disability affects individuals as members of families, groups, organizations and communities. Ethical and legal issues such as self-determination, strategies for independence and nondiscrimination will be addressed.
