ED 4021 - Student Teaching in the Secondary School

A student shall complete a semester of full-day, supervised instructional experience including one week of structured observation in each student teaching placement. Students will spend half of the time in a 7-9 placement and half in a 10-12 placement. Those students pursuing dual certification in adolescence and special education (7-12) will spend half of the time in a secondary program and half of the time in a program for students with disabilities (including one week of structured observation); one of these placements will be at the 7-9 level and the other at the 10-12 level. Student teaching requires a full-time commitment. No course other than ED 4240 may be taken concurrently with student teaching unless the student obtains written permission from the chairperson of the Division of Education. Students are required to participate in all designated student teaching seminars and in ED 4030 (Workshop in Health Education). Prerequisite: 2.75 Grade Point Average.
