This course is designed to introduce students to the study of the methods and materials used to teach word recognition and comprehension skills in reading. The goal of this course is to help students understand how pupils learn to read and write. Students will study and apply various approaches for teaching reading, writing, listening and speaking that can be used for pupils with and without disabilities in group and classroom settings. Fieldwork is required. Prerequisite: A grade of C+ or better in ED 2501.
