A full semester that teaches students the critical reading skills required for success in college course work with an emphasis on understanding direct statements, vocabulary, main and subordinate ideas, outlining, organizing information, drawing inferences, making judgements, and applying these strategies to reading. Students earn a grade of P, which signals successful completion of the course, or DE, which means the student has passed ENG 0130 but must complete ENG 0140 (Advanced Critical Reading.)
