Includes a survey of microorganisms with emphasis on bacteria; concepts of morphology, genetics and physiology will be discussed. Growth, isolation, identification and control are studied with respect to ecological and medical applications. Selected laboratory exercises demonstrate the above. 2 hours lecture, 4 hours lab Prerequisite: BIO 1140 or BIO 1040 and CHM 1510 or CHM 1050 or permission of division. Co-requisite: CHM 1520 or CHM 1060.
